The Green Tech Challenge was founded last year when young entrepreneurs felt that Danish policy is too slow to create a green and sustainable transition, leading to innovation death and lack of commercialization of green innovation. According to the Green Tech Challenge, there is a need to channel more capital into green innovation and help green startups commercialize.

Today, all 2015 participants are thriving, several have raised capital and some are in negotiations for investment. In 2016, interest in the Green Tech Challenge has been overwhelming. The strongest people in the consultancy industry support the project, which this year is in collaboration with Kromann Reumert, PwC, Dansk Industri, Microsoft, QVARTZ, Accenture, Kemp & Kjær, Awapatent and others. This has increased the turnover of the Green Tech Challenge tenfold, making it a financially sustainable and self-financing private innovation initiative.

Yesterday, Green Tech Challenge 2016 kicked off with 20 Danish startups excitedly showing up at Industriens Hus, which hosted the event in style.
